US Airways To Post 2008 Loss

US Airways announced that it will report a loss for the full year 2008.

Fourth-quarter 2008 domestic mainline capacity will be down 6 percent to 8 percent, while total mainline capacity will be down by 5 percent to 7 percent, the company said.

For 2009, domestic mainline capacity will be down 8 percent to 10 percent while total mainline capacity will be down 4 percent to 6 percent. Express capacity will be down 5 percent to 7 percent in 2009.

US Airways President Scott Kirby commented that, "Looking forward, we continue to be cautiously optimistic about the demand environment."
