Two customers set to sign for CSeries today

Bombardier could announce as early as today two firm orders for its CSeries regional jet, totalling 50 aircraft.

The Canadian manufacturer is expected to firm up a Lufthansa order for 30. Bombardier announced the German carrier as a customer last year at the Farnborough Air Show, and signed a letter of interest for 30 aircraft and 30 options.

Flightglobal's premium sister publication Commercial Aviation Online understands that Lufthansa will acquire the 110-seat version of the CSeries. Lufthansa could not be reached for comment.

Separately, Bombardier is also expected to announce an operating lessor as a new customer for the CSeries.

CAO understands that the manufacturer has agreed a 20-aircraft firm order with the lessor for the 130-seat CSeries model, with 20 options.

Impressionante como a LH consegue ser rentável operando uma frota tão heterogênea. Quase que remar contra a maré das padronizações de frotas mundo afora.

Today is yesterday now .... and no order was firmed.
And, apart some excited blogers on "Aviation Forum", nobody in the businness, and even Lufthansa so far, believe this project will go ahead.
Boeing is now almost two years ahead of 787 first flight and still facing some issues on pre-production line on behalf of new technologies.
The so aclaimed "GTF" is on preliminary tests and the project is not matured yet. An it has to prove itself as a great fuel saver as they predicted.
My question is ...
With the down on oil prices ( US$ 148,00 in Sep08 against US$ 45,00 in Jan09 prices ),
With the world financial crises and credit shortage,
With the shrink of air travel business and consequent dispossal of almost new second-hand aircrafts,
Is this the right time for this project ...

Alguma companhia confirmou a encomenda do CSeries?
