LAPDC8 Posted January 14, 2014 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Uruguay's BQB Líneas Aéreas awarded its Chilean AOCBQB Líneas Aéreas (5Q, Montevideo) has been granted its Air Operators Certificate by the Chilean Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil - DGCA). Issued on January 9, the AOC allows BQB Airlines to operate both scheduled and charter commercial passenger flights within Chile and internationally. To mark the occasion, Mario Valdés Castillo, BQB's CEO, said "Sharing the skies of the condors is an honour for us. We understand that sharing skies and getting a Chilean AOC is a commitment from both an operational and security point of view." The airline recently launched its first Montevideo to Santiago de Chile Int'l flights though it also offers Uruguayan domestic flights as well as flights to Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. BQB operates four ATR72-500s and one A320-200 with a further three A320-200s expected during the first quarter of this year.
