Dubai Air Show 2019

Local carriers Emirates and Air Arabia led the order activity on the second day of the Dubai air show with commitments covering 170 Airbus aircraft, while Turkey’s SunExpress gave Boeing a welcome lift with a follow-up Max commitment.
 
Emirates placed a firm order for 50 Airbus A350s, in a revision of the Dubai carrier’s initial Airbus long-haul order.
 
Emirates had tentatively opted for 30 A350-900s and 40 A330-900s earlier this year in a rejig of its long-haul strategy as Airbus cancelled its A380 programme, for which Emirates had been the primary customer.
 
But the revision unveiled at the Dubai air show makes no mention of the 40 A330neos. Emirates says the new purchase deal "replaces" its previous declaration of intent. It also confirmed that there was no change to its A380 restructuring plan, under which it is cancelling 39 of the type and reducing its order book for the type at 123 aircraft.
 
The Dubai-based carrier says the firm order for 50 A350-900s – all exclusively powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines – is worth $16 billion at catalogue prices. Deliveries will commence in May 2023, it adds.
 
Low-cost carrier Air Arabia signed a firm order for 120 Airbus aircraft including 20 A321XLRs. The agreement also comprises 73 A320neos and 27 A321neos.
 
Air Arabia is an all-Airbus operator with a fleet of 54 A320 Family aircraft including the A321LR.
 
Leisure carrier SunExpress became the second operator after IAG, and first existing customer of the type, to place an order for Boeing 737 Max aircraft since its grounding earlier this year.
 
German-Turkish joint venture SunExpress has firmed 10 options for the 737 Max 8, taking to 42 its total orders for the troubled narrowbody.
 
Jens Bischof, SunExpress's chief executive, says the carrier was due to have received eight 737-8s from April this year, with another five aircraft to arrive in 2020, dating from a 32-unit order placed in 2014.
 
However, the 13 March grounding of the re-engined narrowbody interrupted those plans. Assuming the flight ban on the type is lifted shortly, delivery of all 13 737-8s will take place next year, says Bischof.
 
That brought order activity to life after there had been little by way of commercial airliner order activity during the show.
 
The most notable deal of the first day was Biman Bangladesh Airlines adding to its fleet of Boeing 787-8s with an order for a pair of larger and longer-range -9 Dreamliners. The order was previously attributed to an unnamed customer in Boeing's backlog.
 
GE Aviation GEnx engines power Biman's current 787-8s, and the US manufacturer has been selected for the next two aircraft. No delivery date is listed, however.
 
REGIONAL BUSINESS
Dubai-based lessor Palma has signed a letter of intent to purchase 20 De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400s.
 
De Havilland Canada says the parties are working to finalise a purchase agreement after announcing the letter of intent at the Dubai air show.
 
Nigeria’s Elin Group had earlier during the show signed a firm purchase agreement for a trio of De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 turboprops to support oil and gas operations.
 
The airframer last month won its first order since acquiring the turboprop programme, then branded as the Q400, from Bombardier. That order, for a single aircraft, likewise came from an African customer: the Tanzania Government Flight Agency, acting on behalf of flag carrier Air Tanzania.
 
Embraer meanwhile disclosed a firm order from CIAF Leasing for a trio of E190s. The jets, to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2020, will join three E170s in the Egyptian lessor's portfolio.
 
CIAF is also set to receive two E195s in mid-November, says Embraer.

CIAF Leasing Signs Order with Embraer for Three E190 Jets

Dubai, UAE, November 17, 2019 – Embraer and Cairo-based CIAF Leasing have signed a firm order for three E190 aircraft. The deal has a value of USD 161.4 million at current list prices and will be added to Embraer’s fourth quarter backlog. The three new aircraft will join CIAF’s existing fleet of three E170s, two of which are on lease with Jasmin Airways, the other with Air Cairo. CIAF are also due to receive two E195s in mid-November. Dr. Hassan Mohamed, Chairman and CEO of CIAF Leasing said, “The three new E190s will be an excellent addition to our growing fleet of Embraer E-Jets. With a fleet of E170s, E190s, and E195s, CIAF will have the flexibility to offer to both our wet and dry lease customers a service that fits their needs exactly.” Raul Villaron, Vice President Sales, Africa and Middle East, Embraer Commercial Aviation said, “CIAF is rapidly increasing its footprint in both wet and dry leasing with the addition of further aircraft to their fleet and the establishment of their own AOC (Air Operator Certificate) in June this year. A Emirates mudou bem o planejamento nos  últimos anos

Primeiro chegou a cancelar a ordem de 70 A350 a favor dos A380, pressionou a airbus pelo A380 Neo, aparentemente percebeu que o A380 é muito avião para várias rotas, e mudou novamente para o A350

E agora troca algumas ordem do também grande 777X pelo 787
