American Airlines seeks more frequencies to Brazil.

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for the right to fly 10 additional U.S. – Brazil weekly frequencies that it will use to add service from its Miami hub. American proposes to increase its current service from Miami to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte, and to launch new service from Miami to Manaus.


From Miami International Airport, AA offers more than 380 weekly flights to more than 30 cities throughout Latin America and Mexico.


American proposes to use three frequencies to increase Miami – Brasilia service from four per week to daily using 182-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft beginning Dec. 15, three frequencies to increase Miami – Belo Horizonte service from four times per week to daily using 225-seat Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft beginning December 15 and four frequencies to inaugurate Miami – Manaus service using 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft beginning June 14, 2012.


American serves Brazil from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo, and from Dallas/Fort Worth and New York-JFK to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. With more than 65 weekly flights, American operates more service to Brazil than any other U.S. carrier.
