Kennedy International (JFK)) will, in 2016, receive the first Airbus A320 to roll off the production line at the new Airbus Industrie (AIB,Toulouse Blagnac (TLS)) plant in Mobile, Alabama. JetBlue Airways chief executive Dave Barger made the announcement during the ground-breaking ceremony for the US$600 million facility in Mobile today. Mr Barger added that the A320 is part of a larger order for 100 A320 narrow-body aircraft, of which it currently has 127. Airbus is pinning its hopes on the Mobile facility to help it bolster its US market presence. Airbus projects that the US will require over 5'000 new aircraft between now and 2031.
